29 photographs on paper and more than 200 photographs in audiovisual format of the photographer and naturalist from Cartagena Javier Murcia make up the new temporary exhibition 'A look at the Mar Menor', which can be visited from October 1 to 27 at the Museum of Science and Water of Murcia.
In it the visitor will have the opportunity to dive into the seabed of the largest salty lagoon in the western Mediterranean, and one of the most important worldwide: the Mar Menor.
Javier Murcia's work as a naturalist and photographer focuses on underwater and freshwater fauna, the Mar Menor being one of his favorite areas to develop his hobby.
His photos have been published in various marine wildlife books, posters, calendars, posters and brochures of various foundations, and have been exhibited in museums and photographic exhibits.
He currently collaborates with various regional and national journals specializing in nature and marine biology.
Author of several books, including Guide to the underwater flora and fauna of the Mar Menor, Life under the Mediterranean, An underwater trip through the port of Cartagena or The Mar Menor.
A magic lagoon
He is co-author of the books The Green Forest, Oceanic Posidonia and Els nostres veïns submarins.
He has collaborated in the books Marine Ictiofauna of the Mediterranean of Domingo Lloris, in the Atlas of Phanerógamas of Spain or the artisanal fisheries in the Region of Murcia, the piglet.
He has received several photography awards in international competitions such as the prestigious GDT (European Wildlife Photographer of the Year), Montphoto, Asferico, Fotocam, Nature photographer of the year, Navara, Fotonoja, Euronatur, or Memorial Marialuisa
