Crossbow claims that water and water infrastructure planning have "national rank" (26/09/2019)

The mayor points out in the III Future Forum in Spanish that "we must demand the establishment of national prevention and mitigation plans capable of dealing with natural contingencies."

"Murcia and Murcia claim that all of us - each one at the level of responsibility that corresponds to us - give the best of ourselves in these times of uncertainty," said the mayor.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, said today during his speech at the III International Future Forum in Spanish 'Water resources: innovation and challenges â€that“ above all localism, both in the approach to the sufficiency of water resources and the planning of hydraulic infrastructures capable of channeling it, water must have a national rank â€.

“Just a few days ago, Murcia have witnessed one of the most serious torrential rains that are remembered.

We are still working to overcome this situation.

Fortunately, we have not had to mourn fatalities, but the effects of the rains have been a blow to hundreds of families, who have been forced to vacate their homes and have lost their memories in the mud.

The economic effects are quantified by hundreds of millions throughout the Region, and our regional government has requested that the Region be declared a 'catastrophic zone', â€said the mayor.

“We must demand the establishment of national prevention and mitigation plans capable of dealing with natural contingencies.

Hence, above all localism, both in the approach to water sufficiency and the planning of hydraulic infrastructures capable of channeling it, it must have a national rank, â€he said.

For the mayor, “water is not solidarity but balance and equality.

And it is that talking about water and infrastructure, as we do today, is talking about territorial, economic and social cohesion. â€

“Let's not forget that economic cohesion emphasizes territories, but social cohesion places it on individuals, on people.

And in our humanistic concept of public activity, people are above the territories. â€

In this sense, José Ballesta indicated that “the objective must be a territorially balanced socio-economic development, characterized by the absence of inequalities and territorial polarizations accused in terms of investments, development possibilities and employment opportunities, putting people in the center of all decisions. "

“In our land of Murcia there have been many years of promises broken by one another.

But I am one of those who believe that difficulty is an excuse that history does not accept.

Our mood remains firm.

We know well that leading is not only to make things better but to do the best things.

Murcia and Murcia claim that all of us - each one at the level of responsibility that corresponds to us - give the best of ourselves in these times of uncertainty, â€concluded the first mayor.
