Six UCAM athletes participate in the World Athletics Championship (25/09/2019)

Miguel Ángel López, Raquel González and María Pérez (20 kms march), Mariano García (800 meters), Fernando Carro (3,000 obstacles) and Javier Cienfuegos (hammer) are the six athletes of the Catholic University of Murcia who are part of the delegation Spanish who will compete in the World Athletics Championship (Doha, September 27, October 6).

The competition will put into play, in addition to the World Cup medals, the first places for Tokyo 2020, so many athletes have marked this event in red.

Facing the Olympic Games in a year seen with the place in your pocket is a great advantage, since it allows the athlete to prepare the year based on a single competition and not have to earn the ticket in a subsequent test.

With this premise, the six UCAM athletes will arrive in Doha.

The key to the classification of the Games is in the finalist positions of the corresponding test, that is, to be among the top eight.

The requirement is maximum but the athletes of the Catholic University arrive at this World Cup with options.

To do this, they will have to compete against the best and against the intense heat of the Qatari capital.

Even having moved the championship in early autumn and with most of the important tests taking place at night, athletes will face temperatures above 40 degrees.

This factor must be taken into account because it may lead to surprises, especially in the background and mid-level tests.
