This weekend the National Garden of this city is inaugurated, baptized as Silk Garden;

Both cities will strengthen ties by signing the Friendship Relations Agreement, for the tourism and commercial promotion of the city of Murcia with southern China.

The project, designed by the Muher architecture studio, is based on the heritage left by the silk trade in Murcia.

Water also takes center stage in this environment, since it has ditches that simulate the Murcian orchard.

This weekend, the Chinese city of Nanning (2,480,340 inhabitants), located in the Guangxi region, will inaugurate its National Garden, baptized as the Silk Garden, in which influences are distinguished of the Mediterranean landscape and, in particular, the essence of Murcia.

The authors of the design of this new environment are the artists Manuel Herrera and Francisca Muñoz, creators of the Muher architecture studio.

Murcia's influence is recognized in the forms of the elements that make up this Garden, such as the pergola and the pavilion that it presents, infrastructures that simulate an ancient silk loom, as well as in the surrounding vegetation, formed by olive trees, cypresses and palm trees, species also present in the Region.

This initiative promotes the cultural exchange between Murcia and Nanning, cities distanced by more than 10,000 kilometers.

Water also takes center stage in this environment, since it has a set of ditches that evoke the Murcian garden.

"The Murcia Brand, the essence of its gardens and its Garden, is projected in the heart of China, through this Silk Garden created by the Muher," said the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, who will attend this end of week to the inauguration of this new environment, accompanied by the designers of the Garden, Manuel Herrera and Francisca Muñoz de Muher, as well as the local and regional authorities of Nanning.

Bilateral relations of Murcia with the Asian giant

This weekend, in addition, the cities of Murcia and Nanning will strengthen ties by signing the Friendship Relations Agreement between both locations.

The Nanning city councilor, Zhou Hongbo, and the mayor of the city of Murcia, José Ballesta, will sign this agreement, in order to consolidate and develop friendly cooperation, as well as strengthen institutional relations between Murcia and China.

“This Corporation understands the institutional relations with the outside as an opportunity for the tourist and commercial promotion of the municipality of Murcia and the establishment of concrete lines of work,†says José Ballesta.

Through this agreement, both cities will develop exchanges and cooperate in the fields of agriculture, tourism, landscaping, education, economy, commerce, culture, science and technology.

In 2018, they were appointed Ambassadors of the Region of Murcia;

The Muher studio, in addition, is developing other projects in China, related to the Tomato Museum in the Chinese town of Taiwan, being art, again, the vehicle that will transport the Murcia garden to the Asian continent.

On this occasion, the union between both cultures will be carried out through a monographic museum.
