The San José de Calasanz de Alquerías school takes up classes after the floods (18/09/2019)

The Councilor for Education and Infantile Schools, Belén López, the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility and Youth, Rebeca Pérez, and the Councilor for Pedanías y Barrios, Marco Antonio Fernández, visited the San José de Calasanz school in Alquerías, the most affected by heavy rainfall.

Both the courtyard and the classrooms of this center were flooded after the DANA (Isolated Depression in High Levels), leaving also the facilities full of mud and mud.

During these days, firefighters have intervened with pumps to extract water.

The concessionary company has been in charge of cleaning, but also from the Department of Sustainable Mobility, it has helped with the reinforcement of its services, such as sweepers and other specific machinery for the removal of sludge and trawlers.

“I would like to convey my gratitude to all the people who have turned upside down, both the teaching and non-teaching staff, participating in cleaning and furniture removal.

Also highlight the involvement of our councilor of Pedanías that has been pending from the first moment so that everything returns to normal â€, highlights Belén López.

A total of 63 schools in the municipality of Murcia have been affected by heavy rains due to the DANA that surprised the region last week.

Leaks, power outages, earth trawls, floods, mud, mud, broken pavements, water leaks and fallen tree branches have been the most common incidents that municipal technicians have collected after episodes of heavy rainfall.

Today all the educational centers of the municipality have resumed their academic activity.

During these days, the operators of the municipal services have worked in the cleaning of sludge in the facilities, the most affected areas being the courtyards and outdoor spaces in a generalized way.

“Our goal is for the children of Murcia to start school today in a pleasant and clean environment.

To do this, we have made our services available to the center in order to help resume the activity as quickly as possible, â€says Rebeca Pérez.
