The Civil Guard establishes a security device in the pilgrimage of the Virgin to the Sanctuary of Fuensanta (16/09/2019)

The main objectives are to strengthen citizen security in the Sanctuary of Fuensanta and the surveillance of nearby natural areas

The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia will establish from the afternoon of today, day 16, and tomorrow Tuesday, day 17, with around fifty troops, in the device established to ensure safety in the traditional pilgrimage of the rise of the Virgin to the Sanctuary of Fuensanta.

Citizen security units, Air Unit, Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), Cynological Service and Explosives Deactivation Specialist Group will be deployed to ensure the safety of the numerous neighbors and visitors who come to the Fuensanta sanctuary.

Within the traditional pilgrimage that each year accompanies the transfer of the Virgin of Fuensanta from the Cathedral of Murcia to its sanctuary, the Civil Guard has established a specific device in order to guarantee the normal development of the event in the competent demarcation to the Body.

This device aims to ensure public order, as well as guarantee the peaceful assistance of neighbors and visitors to the sanctuary, with an approximate estimate, according to the balance of previous years, of about 80,000 people.

For this, the Benemérita will deploy a device from the afternoon of today, day 16, and tomorrow Tuesday, day 17, with around fifty citizens security agents, Air Unit, Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA), Cinological Service and Explosives Deactivation Specialist Group, to guarantee citizen security on the esplanade of the sanctuary and nearby recreational areas, as well as to ensure the area of ​​nearby mountains and avoid incidents in the natural environment, all with the support of a helicopter Body.

Included in the 'Safe Tourism Plan' and taking into account the massive influx of people coming from other parts of the Region and other neighboring provinces, which are scheduled to attend their annual appointment with the traditional pilgrimage, the Civil Guard will establish the aforementioned security device on the esplanade of the Sanctuary during the afternoon today, day 16, and tomorrow Tuesday, day 17.
