Municipal services focus on the most affected districts returning to normal as soon as possible (14/09/2019)

The actions contemplate the cleaning of streets, with the removal of sludge, water drains and food supply for those who are incommunicado.

The City Council deploys two emergency command posts and humanitarian aid in El Raal.

The City Council, through its municipal services, focuses on the districts most affected by heavy rains return to normal as soon as possible.

At this time, the actions focus on cleaning the streets, with the removal of sludge, water drains and food supply for those who are held incommunicado.

These works are being carried out in the places most affected by the rains and the flooding of the river, such as Alquerías, Torreagüera, Llano de Brujas and El Raal.

The river has lowered its channel in a generalized way.

In the city of Murcia has decreased approximately one meter and at this time the current is stabilized.

In the capital, cleaning work continues, such as the withdrawal of reeds on the La Fica bridge in order to facilitate normal water flow.

In Alquerías, we are proceeding with the withdrawal of reeds and all kinds of bushes that drag the river and prevent it from flowing naturally, at the height of the Tabala sidewalk.

The channel has gone down, about a meter, but the village remains incommunicado, it is only accessible by the Murcia road.

In the early hours of yesterday there were several cracks that could be solved thanks to the intervention of security forces, municipal services, the placement of sacks and neighborhood aid.

The hamlet of Llano de Brujas continues with some streets cut, specifically the largest one is Calle Mayor, which prevents the passage of neighbors from one side to another.

Civil Protection is prepared to work with bilge pumps to lower the water level in the area.

In Santa Cruz, the main incidents are found in Calle Mayor up to the Azarbe, a new ditch, due to the accumulation of water from both the rain and the sewer system, due to the fact that the caps jump.

The other affected area is from the Silk Palace, which is surrounded by water, to the merancho and the Azarbe shore.

In Torreagüera, the Rambla canal has been restored and the flow of water to the homes has been cut off.

Work is being done in the area with two excavator shovels and dirt trucks and sacks to prevent water from flowing out.

Another action has been the withdrawal of the catwalk that had been affected by the rains.

An emergency command post and another humanitarian aid

So far, the most critical point is in the hamlet of El Raal.

Due to the breakage of a wall, the river overflowed, affecting the entire population.

The water level has dropped compared to 40 cm yesterday.

At this time, the City Council has established in this district an advanced emergency command post and for the coordination of the breaking of the speck and another for humanitarian aid.

The Military Emergency Unit (UME) would be responsible for delivering food and water to those most affected.

In addition to these works, the Road Cleaning Service works throughout the morning in cleaning the streets of different districts such as Cobatillas, Puente Tocinos, Monteagudo, Rincón de Seca, El Palmar, La Ñora, Guadalupe or Espinardo, among others.

The City Council continues with the special device consisting of more than 1,000 people during these days, coordinated between Firefighters of Murcia, Local Police, Civil Protection, Aguas de Murcia, lighting, cleaning, urban planning, the Emergency Mobile Service and Social Care (WEEKS), as well as parks and gardens.

To these troops, we must add the intervention of military forces, such as the Military Emergency Unit (UME), Marine Corps and Army.
