Riding through the surroundings of the Garden of Floridablanca (08/09/2019)

More than 2,000 Murcia have witnessed this morning the great parade of the Day of the Horse, in which about 50 carriages have participated.

The event was held in the surroundings of the Garden of Floridablanca, the first public garden that opened in Spain, declared as a Site of Cultural Interest in 2017.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture and Heritage Recovery, Jesús Pacheco, attended this morning the Horse Day parade, in which about 50 carriages have strolled through the Garden of Floridablanca;

one of the most popular events of the Murcia Fair that has been attended by more than 2,000 Murcia.

"Thanks to events such as today, the Day of the Horse, we remember the origins of the Murcia Fair, 754 years ago, at which time it was conceived as a cattle fair in which animal exchanges were held," said the Mayor of Murcia, who added that “the parade, in addition, is held in an emblematic environment, such as the Floridablanca Garden, the first public garden that opened in Spain, declared a Cultural Interest in 2017â€.

More than 300 Murcia have participated in the parade, inviting the public to climb the carriages, which have walked through the streets Proclamation, Priests Brothers Cerón, Alameda de Colón and Hernández del Águila.

At the event, organized by the City Council in collaboration with the Brotherhood of Peñas Caballistas, attendees have enjoyed a tasting of sandwiches and beer.
