The installation of six Violeta Points at the Murcia Fair will prevent sexist violence (06/09/2019)

These spaces, two more than in 2018, will serve in the La Fica fairgrounds, at the entrance to the Malecon, in the Murcia Park, in the Fofó auditorium, in the deterrent car park of the Malecon and in the parking lot of the Nueva shopping center Condomine

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Social Rights and Family reinforces its commitment to gender equality and increases awareness raising and prevention of violence against women through the campaign 'Only Yes is Yes. Tolerance Zero to Sexist Violence. '

The campaign will take place during the Murcia Fair through the installation of Violet Points in the different festive spaces of the city where information leaflets will be distributed to know what to do in the face of a sexist aggression and bracelets with 112 emergency phones and the Municipal Team of Attention to Gender Violence.

The Councilor for Social and Family Rights, Pilar Torres, explained that "we show again in a strong way our commitment to equality between women and men and against sexist violence. We seek to prevent violence against women in party programs that are carried out in the municipality of Murcia and raise awareness and inform all citizens about the right of women to decide. "

With this new campaign, it is intended to strengthen the project of the past year 2018 'For some parties free of sexist aggressions.

It is not not 'trying to convey that without explicit consent, any sexual behavior becomes an aggression.

These spaces will be attended by professionals specialized in gender equality who will have the support of the Social Volunteering belonging to the Volunteer Offices of the Municipal Social Services Centers.

This year the spaces and events in which Violeta Points will be installed during the September Fair are increased, since last year there were 4 and this year they amount to 6. The schedule locations are as follows:

- Los Huertos: From 5 to 16 (from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.) on the Malecon the entrance to the Orchards

- Concert 'Murcia rhymes with A': Monday 9 (from 21 to 01 hours) at the Murcia Parque Auditorium.

- Children's Day of the fair of attractions: Tuesday 10 (from 19 to 23 hours) in the fairgrounds of FICA.

- Lemon POP: Friday the 13th and Saturday the 14th (from 7:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) in the Fofó Park.

- Young Orchards: Saturday 14 (from 21 to 02 hours) in the deterrent car park of the Malecon.

- Concerts Los 40 Murcia Pop: Monday 16 (from 21 to 02 hours) n the parking lot of the Nueva Condomina shopping center

The Violeta Points are the security and support spaces for victims of sexist or sexual violence that the City of Murcia enables during the Murcia Fair.

It will also inform the general public and the youth population in particular about the sexist behaviors and the micromachisms that submissiveness and imperceptibility imposes on women to submit to men.

The campaign 'Only Yes is Yes. Zero Tolerance to Sexist Violence' and the installation and attention of Violeta Points responds to one of the needs on sexist violence detected by the Department of Social and Family Rights and which was included in the II Plan of Equal Opportunities between Women and Men 2018-2019 and which is answered through Strategic Axis 4: Gender Violence, specifically through action 6.1.B "awareness actions on micro-machisms, street harassment and leisure free from sexist aggressions "and financed with funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence from the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Equality.

Violet Points Balance 2019

During this year 2019 Violeta Points were installed during the Cabezo de Torres Carnivals, the Spring Festivities, and the WARM Up! Festival.

All the violet points installed during 2019 have been attended by professional specialists in equality and gender who have had the support of 12 people, volunteers from the 3 Social Volunteering offices of the Municipal Social Services Centers of the Department of Social and Family Rights of the City of Murcia.

CARNIVALS OF CABEZO DE TORRES.

During the days planned for this event, two points were installed per day with three professionals each, one in the Church Square and the other in an area close to the mayor's office and the cultural center of the village from 3 to 9 March.

During the care carried out during these days, some 500 people were attended at an informative level without the existence of incidents.

The point was both men and women, younger girls accompanied by their parents and people belonging to the troupes.

In addition, 6 volunteers were supported.

From this start-up of the Violet Points, the proposal arises to develop stickers and badges with the most relevant and significant information for the prevention of sexual aggressions, which were available for dissemination during the spring holidays.

SPRING PARTIES 2019

For the Spring Festival, the installation of different points always attended by three professionals on the following dates was scheduled:

- Bando de la Huerta: for the celebration of Bando de la Huerta, two Violeta Points were installed in the FICA fairgrounds (on the occasion of La Repanocha) and Plaza de la Merced.

At La Fica Point, there were no incidents where the different professional agents had to intervene.

Yes there was a demand for information from a total of 150 people of which 105 were women and 45 men, who approached the point with the interest of knowing the information on the resources offered through brochures, badges and stickers as well as of the sense of the Violet Point.

The target people were mainly teenagers.

At La Merced Point, participation was greater, registering a demand for information from 360 people, of which 250 were women and 110 were men, both young and adult.

- Burial of the Sardine: Two Violet Points were installed in the Plaza de la Merced (in which 68 people were attended, 49 were women and the rest men without incident) and in the garden of La Fama (in which 68 people were attended, 36 of them women).

WARM FESTIVAL

During the festival celebration, 159 people were attended, 132 of them women.
