The placement of acoustic screens in El Ranero and Los Rectores will reduce the noise level by 7 decibels (01/09/2019)

The City of Murcia, through the Department of Sustainable Development and Huerta, finalizes the installation of 550 meters of acoustic screens in several sectors of the A-30, in order to protect some areas of the neighborhoods of El Ranero and Los Rectores of the traffic noise generated on this highway, which circulates around 91,000 vehicles daily.

The Environmental Service has prepared an acoustic study, determining two areas, one of 300 meters in El Ranero, and another of 250 meters in Los Rectores, as a priority for the installation of screens.

Currently, the first phase of the project is being awarded for execution, with a basic bidding budget of 154,917.43 euros.

These works will involve the installation of 150 linear meters of acoustic screen 4.5 meters high along the right bank of the West Round, from the pedestrian walkway to close with the existing one, placed by the Ministry of Development.

The remaining 400 linear meters of screen are in the project drafting phase.

The installation of these screens, composed of prefabricated panels of transparent methacrylate 2 meters high and 15 mm thick on a 2.5 meter concrete plinth, will allow to reduce between 5 and 7 decibels (up to 10,000,000 the sound pressure intensity). Current noise level of the facades of the shielded buildings, during day and night periods.

The entry into force of Law 37/2003, of November 17, on Noise, and its subsequent Royal Development Decrees, have meant the establishment of limits not to be exceeded in the different acoustic areas, as well as the adoption of corrective measures in in case these limits were exceeded.

In application of said regulations, a Plenary Agreement of the North Municipal Board was adopted for the placement of acoustic screens by the City Council in several sections of the A-30 highway, in order to improve the acoustic conditions in the most affected buildings.
