Nine groups star in the LII International Festival of Folklore in the Mediterranean that begins tomorrow (15/07/2019)

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the LII edition of the International Folklore Festival in the Mediterranean begins, which will run until Friday, July 19, and will show the cultural tradition of countries such as Russia, Portugal, Chile (Easter Island) and Cyprus, as well as different points of Spain like Córdoba, Zaragoza and Murcia.

In this edition, the Folklore Group Virgen de la Vega (Murcia-Spain), Guzel Chulman Folk Group (Perm-Russia), Marquesa de Benamejí Choir and Dance Group (Córdoba-Spain), Folklorico Group of Coimbra (Portugal), Group will participate of Choirs and Dances of Zarandona de la Peña "El Esprefollo" (Murcia-Spain), Grigoris Ashiotis Dancing Group (Cyprus), Folkloric Group Raíces de Aragón (Zaragoza-Spain), Mahia Rapa Nui (Easter Island-Chile), Choirs and Dances of Murcia of the Francisco Salzillo Regional Association (Murcia-Spain).

Tomorrow, Tuesday, this festival will begin with a demonstration of dances from participating groups in different parts of the city such as the Plaza Romea, Plaza Santo Domingo, Liberty Avenue, Floridablanca Garden, Plaza de la Flores, Plaza de Europa, Alfonso X, Plaza Apostles and Plaza de San Bartolomé.

Around 9:00 pm they will go to the Plaza de la Cruz from where the parade will begin, which will cross Plaza de la Cruz, Calle Salzillo and Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, where the Torch of Friendship will be lit and flags will be raised .

At the end of the concert will be held by Juan Jose Jose Robles who presents his album 'In-Quietud'.

At midnight the cycle 'Trasnochando: Reflejos de Luna' will be held at the terrace of Los Molinos del Río, with poetry readings from Murcia, by Murcian poets such as Tomás Guillén Sánchez, Francisco José Motos, Paco De Pascual, Francisca Martínez Merino, Jesús Pablo Guillamón, Manuel López Nicolás, María Luisa Carrión, Jesús Miguel Pacheco, Juan Acebal, Fuensanta Tomás Aldeguer (Santica), Pedro Antonio Martínez Antolinos, Carlos Gargallo, Jesús Cánovas Martínez, Hipólito Romero Hidalgo and José Martínez Giménez.

This activity will be enlivened by the musical performance of the guitarist Pedro Antonio Garrigós Martínez and the violinist Fran Martínez Vigueras

The day of Wednesday July 17 will begin at 11 am with the reception of the participating groups in the Plenary Hall of the City of Murcia.

In the afternoon, at 20.30, the activity 'Come and dance with us' will take place with the performance of the groups in different places.

Thus, the Marquesa de Benamejí Choir and Dance Group (Córdoba-Spain) will perform in Avenida de la Libertad, the Folkloric Group of Coimbra (Portugal) in Alfonso X and the Guzel Chulman Folk Group (Perm-Russia) in the Floridablanca Garden .

At 10 pm, in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, the inaugural session of the festival will take place, with the participation of the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega (Murcia-Spain), Grigoris Ashiotis Dancing Group (Cyprus), Folklore Group Raíces de Aragón ( Zaragoza-Spain) and Mahia Rapa Nui (Easter Island-Chile).

At 24 hours the second session of 'Trasnochando: Reflejos de Luna' will be held with 'Murcian popular couplets of the XVIII and XIX centuries', by Tomás García (Guitar, guitar and lute) and Francisco Frutos (Voice and guitar)

On Thursday, July 18, at 8:30 p.m., the groups Folkloric Group Raíces de Aragón (Zaragoza-Spain) and Mahia Rapa Nui (Easter Island-Chile) will dance on Avenida Libertad and Alfonso X respectively.

At 10 pm. Plaza del Cardenal Belluga will be the setting for the performance of Grigoris Ashiotis Dancing Group (Cyprus), Choir and Dance Group of Zarandona de la Peña "El Esprefollo" (Murcia-Spain), Grupo Folklorico de Coimbra ( Portugal), Group of Choirs and Dances Marquesa de Benamejí (Cordoba-Spain), and Folk Group Guzel Chulman (Perm-Russia),

The Terrace of the Mills of the River will welcome, to the 24 hours the activity 'Between quintillas and tenth troveras' of the Association trovera José Montoya The Repuntín.

The last day of this year's edition of the festival will take place on Friday, July 19 with the performance of Folk Group Guzel Chulman (Perm-Russia), Group of Choirs and Dances Marquesa de Benamejí (Cordoba-Spain), Folklorico Group of Coimbra (Portugal), Raíces de Aragón Folkloric Group (Zaragoza-Spain), Mahia Rapa Nui (Easter Island-Chile) and Murcia Choirs and Dances, and Francisco Salzillo Regional Association (Murcia-Spain), at 10 pm, in the Cardinal Belluga Square
