The universities that make up the Campus Mare Nostrum 37/38 of the Region of Murcia have received the concession for the celebration of the Inclusive Campus program, Campus Sin Límites in its 2019 edition. Next Tuesday, July 2, this action will be launched with the support from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the ONCE Foundation and the Repsol Foundation, which will be developed through the University of Murcia (UMU) and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT).

The University of Murcia, national and international benchmark in terms of diversity, is the only Spanish university that has been granted the celebration of the program in its eight editions of life, this time being the project presented in second position, after the proposal presented jointly by the universities of Burgos, Salamanca, Valladolid and León, within the more than twenty projects presented by Spanish universities.

The main objective of this project is to increase the active presence of people who, due to their individual characteristics, may find their inclusion in Spanish universities limited.

In this way, people with disabilities, with special educational needs, or in situations of psychosocial risk, can know and experience, first hand, the university experience in all its dimensions (academic, cultural, training, employability and interpersonal relationships). ).

To this end, measures are implemented to promote their access to higher education so that they can increase their chances of accessing the labor market in the medium and long term.

In addition, this program is a means of raising awareness among the university community, favoring the visibility and normalization of this group in the academic sphere.

The 2019 edition will have twenty students of Secondary, Baccalaureate and Training Cycles of Middle or Higher Degree with different needs, which completely free for them, will have the possibility to get in contact with the available resources available in public universities Murcia (choice of studies, university degrees, professional opportunities, success stories of people with disabilities in the labor market, adapted sports, cultural activities for all, etc.) in a university environment, which will help them to define their future projection.

On the other hand, participants can make use of technological resources (computers and tablets, among other things) of which the University of Murcia has available and makes available to this group as a loan.

The purpose is that these students can explore the daily tools of university students, such as the virtual campus, or institutional applications.

Likewise, they will be given the possibility of counting and disseminating their experiences and impressions about this program on social networks, through the emblem of the project #CampusdelosSentidos.

During the realization of all activities, several experts will be permanently present in attention to the diversity of the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, staff of the University Information Service (SIU), and five assistants (two of them with training health), to ensure that development is appropriate at all times.

The selected students will live in the Azarbe Residence Hall for ten days in which they will have the opportunity to learn about the resources and support services available to the university community, and at the same time enjoy complementary cultural and leisure activities available in the Region (visits for the different campuses, adapted sports, nautical outings, descent of the Segura River, etc.).

The program, fully funded by the ONCE Foundation, the REPSOL Foundation and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, Campus Inclusivo, Campus sin Límites 2019 will end next Friday, July 12 and will show the inclusive capacity of the region's public universities in the field of disability.
