The University of Murcia organizes the second meeting of Spanish universities and refuge (25/06/2019)

The University of Murcia organizes the 'II Meeting of Spanish Universities and Refuge' under the title 'Borders, Education and Shelter', which will take place on June 26 and 27 at the Faculty of Literature Campus de la Merced.

During these days, topics such as the experience of transnational work, refuge and gender or good practices of universities in the integration of refugees will be addressed.

The final conference, entitled 'Crossing seas and mountains: the seven reasons for the refuge of women' will be borne by Nazanin Armanian, Iranian writer and political scientist exiled in Spain.

On the other hand, parallel actions have been organized as the photographic exhibition 'Limits' by José Palazón, which will open this Wednesday at the faculty of Law, at 11 o'clock, as well as a workshop for Prepare proposals for reception policies in the Higher Education System.

The conference was organized in partnership with the Erasmus + KA2 Strategic Partnerships Project 'REFUGIUM: building shelter cities and a new welcoming culture.

Links between European universities and schools in Human Rights', coordinated by the University of Murcia.

In addition, the UMU has had the support and active participation of the sub-working group 'CUD actions with refugee population' of the CRUE.

The REFUGIUM project was selected by the European Commission in 2016, with a duration of 36 months.

Its executive period will end on August 31 and has aimed to develop initiatives and innovative practices aimed at strengthening the role of institutions as agents of social innovation in the face of the refugee crisis in the European Union.
