The 'III Summer School FabioUMU: a walk through Biology', framed within the activities of the International University of the Sea, was inaugurated this Monday in an event that took place in the Hermenegildo Lumeras de Castro room at the Espinardo Campus .
Alfonsa García Ayala, dean of the faculty of Biology and director of the course, has indicated that the objective of this school is that "the students of 4th of ESO and 1st of Bachillerato approach the biological world with a series of activities in the laboratory that includes modern techniques of genetic engineering and molecular encapsulation, techniques for the recognition of animal remains and ecosystems, as well as the bases of microscopic recognition and zebrafish as a biomedical research model ".
The activities started this Monday with a small game to present to the participants and the first talk took place, which consisted in giving them a vision of the undergraduate studies that are attached to the Faculty of Biology, what they are, what they are your professional outings, etc.
This third edition has had the registration of 50 students and will run until Friday, June 28.
During these days attendees will learn to appreciate the role of Biology as an engine of industry, biomedicine and environmental protection.
In short, it is about educating values ​​from science, as the organizers point out.
