30 years looking after the road safety of young Murcians (24/06/2019)

A total of 339 teenagers learn traffic regulations to prevent traffic accidents and the safe driving of bicycles and mopeds.

"Traffic accidents are the main cause of death and also of disability among young people, so as future drivers, learning traffic rules, awareness and prevention are essential," said José Ballesta.

The mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, accompanied by the Councilor for Education and Nursery Schools, Belén López, members of the Municipal Corporation and representatives of the sponsoring companies, today delivered the awards of the XXX Local Contest Road Safety Education and Accident Prevention .

Under the slogan 'My safety is education', this contest on road traffic of a theoretical nature has had the participation of 339 students of 14 and 15 years, belonging to 41 schools in the municipality, which over three phases have exceeded tests and questionnaires on standards, signs, first aid and advice on safe driving.

"Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death and also of disability among young people.

Therefore, as future drivers, the learning of traffic regulations, awareness and prevention are essential, "said the mayor, who congratulated the winners and thanked the teachers for their effort and involvement in this initiative" that transcends the academic and is situated in the field of integral education ".

José Ballesta congratulated the young people "for your effort" and thanked them for their "civic responsibility and commitment to respect the rules that we have all given, such as the traffic code".

Award centers

The contest initiated the young people, firstly, in the traffic regulations related to the driving of bicycles and mopeds to further study the driving rules: speed, safety distance, driving under the influence of alcohol, etc.

1st PRIZE.- IES The Basilica (Algezares): Lorena González, Noelia Nicolás, Soraya Pujante.

Prize: three MTB bicycles and safety elements.

2nd PRIZE.- Cipriano Galea School (La Ñora): Marta Monera, Paola Sánchez and Laura Valverde.

Prize: three bicycles.

3rd PRIZE.- San Vicente de Paul School (El Palmar): Iara Cerrada, José Tomás García, Lucía López.

Prize: three bluetooth speakers.

4th PRIZE.- Cipriano Galea School (La Ñora): Sergio Bermudez, Yaiza Fernández, Yadhira Tomás.

Prize: three tablets.

5th PRIZE.- IES The Basilica (Algezares): Gregorio Fernández, Alba Marín, Pablo Sánchez.

Prize: three sports activity watches.

6th PRIZE.- IES Poeta Sánchez Bautista (Llano de Brujas): Raquel Madrid, David Martínez and Daniel Ruiz.

Prize: three photographic equipment.
