The rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján, and the president of the Regional Federation of Metal Entrepreneurs (FREMM), Alfonso Hernández, signed on Friday a collaboration agreement that opens communicating vessels between both institutions in order to transfer knowledge , training and employment.

The agreement, which benefits a university community of 40,000 people and the 8,000 companies in the metal sector represented by FREMM, will allow the promotion of two strategic lines for the economic and social development of the Region, such as innovation and quality employment.

The agreement contemplates, among other things, that the University of Murcia will select qualified professional profiles of special interest for FREMM companies.

Likewise, extracurricular and excellence practices will be promoted and university collaborators will be contacted with FREMM entrepreneurs.

Mentors will also be selected to supervise entrepreneurship projects among university students.

On the other hand, the agreement establishes that the UMU will offer the FREMM companies the technological-scientific activities of their research groups to promote university-business collaboration.

UMU will create a meeting point between business demands and the university offer in innovation, training and employment.

Both Luján and Hernández have highlighted the bonanza of collaboration between the university and the company due to its obvious advantages for young people and for organizations.

The rector of the UMU has stressed that the preparation of the graduates, the vocation and the research experience of the university will provide answers to the innovative and technological needs of FREMM companies.

For his part, the president of Metal has highlighted the clear commitment of Murcian companies for innovation and quality employment, as well as being at the forefront in Industry 4.0.

He thanked the UMU for their collaboration, as well as the support of the Office of Digital Transformation (OTD), from where SMEs are oriented towards their leap to digitalization.
