The city of Murcia has been designated as the headquarters of the 59th Congress of the Spanish Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (SERMEF) that will take place during the month of May 2021.
In this way, the city of Murcia collects the witness for the celebration of this medical meeting whose last edition was held between May 15 and 18 in Seville and that in 2020 will take place in Palma de Mallorca.
The promoter of the candidacy of Murcia has been the chief doctor of the Rehabilitation section of the University Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca, and president of the Murcian Society of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine (SOREHMUR), Juan Antonio Olmo Fernández-Delgado, who has highlighted the support received from the Office of Congresses, "the audiovisual material, the information about the city and the services of the Office of Congresses have been decisive in convincing the national organization that Murcia was a safe value," he explained.
In addition, the intense campaign in social networks carried out from SOREHMUR, has been, according to Olmo, another of the factors that have led to the choice of Murcia.
Murcia presented his candidacy during the congress held in Seville under the slogan 'The city of your next congress' and a bid dossier detailing all the infrastructures, communications and services available in the city for the celebration of first level congresses.
The 59th Congress of the SERMEF will bring together 800 experts in physical medicine and rehabilitation in the Auditorium and Congress Center "Víctor Villegas" with the aim of presenting new knowledge on issues such as the aging of the population and the work of specialists in rehabilitation in the current health.
