The Chair of CSR of the UMU presents the study on CSR perceptions of consumers in the Region of Murcia (11/06/2019)

The University of Murcia presented on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Official College of Economists of the Region of Murcia the study 'Evolution of consumer perceptions of CSR in the Region of Murcia'.

The study, which analyzes the evolution of consumer perception between 2008 and 2018, is the fourth carried out by the Chair of CSR of the UMU in collaboration with the College of Economists.

The event was chaired by José Luján, rector of the UMU, who was accompanied by Ramón Madrid, dean of the Official Association of Economists of the Region of Murcia;

Longinos Marín, Vice Chancellor of Social Responsibility and Transparency of the UMU and co-author of the study;

and Sylvia López, researcher of the Chair of RSC of UMU and coatura of the study.

During the presentation, Sylvia López highlighted the evolution of the perception of CSR in the Region, affirming that in the Region we are facing "an increasingly informed and sensitized consumer in the field of CSR, interested in behavior of companies and willing to transfer their knowledge and information in this area to their purchasing decisions. "

For his part, Longinos Marín thanked the companies and institutions attending his support during these ten years for the development of the work of the Chair of CSR, which is based on three pillars: basic research, dissemination and awareness and training.

"This study is linked to the second pillar, and the results obtained show that consumers in Murcia increasingly value the social responsibility of companies," he said.

For the vice chancellor, "the key element to develop this perception and support the development of the 2030 Agenda is to incorporate social and environmental awareness in educational curricula, from primary to university education."

The dean of the College of Economists, Ramón Madrid, has indicated that the enactment of Law 11/2018 on the obligation of reporting of non-financial information by companies is getting the generalization of the commitment of companies in the field of the CSR.

To conclude the event, José Luján expressed the UMU's commitment to corporate social responsibility and thanked once again the work of the companies and institutions present, "an example of CSR support in the Region of Murcia".

The rector added that, in addition, "the UMU is clearly committed to the 2030 Agenda through the 17 ODSesiones project, which dedicates one month to each of the 17 SDGs that make up the 2030 Agenda", something that "is generating much enthusiasm in the university community. "
