The Fortresses of the Wolf King will host for the first time a night race (07/06/2019)

The test, which will cover different medieval jewels, will take place on June 15 and will be set with special decoration and extras.

The participants of the race will emulate to be soldiers of the army of Ibn Mardanish in the siege that underwent the city of Murcia in 1165 on the part of the Almohad army

The Fortresses of the Wolf King will host, for the first time, the Wolf King Epic Mountain, a night mountain race organized by the Murcia Challenge Sports Club and the Monteagudo Association, Kingdom Border, promoted by the City of Murcia and in which the Municipal Board of Monteagudo.

The race, which will take place on Saturday, June 15, will take place in a natural and urban environment, passing through the archaeological park of Monteagudo, one of its main objectives being to make known these natural and historical spaces, raising awareness among its participants in its knowledge and protection through the world of running.

Throughout the course of the test, participants can enjoy real medieval gems such as castles, palaces, pools, irrigation systems, archaeological sites ...

Thus, the event has been given a real context, one of the most dramatic episodes in the history of the municipality: The siege suffered by the city of Murcia in 1165 by the Almohad army.

The participants of the race will emulate being soldiers of the army of Ibn Mardanish, the King Wolf, that besieged by the enemy, will try to avoid the siege, and to send a call of aid to the allies of the Murcian emir.

Decoration and extras, some scattered along the route, will make this event a unique experience.

The exit will be made in the esplanade of Monteagudo Castle, to later enter the natural park of Los Polvorines, running along paths and paths of this place.

The highlight will be to crown the height of the mine (201m), which will offer participants a spectacular view of the garden and city of Murcia.

The final part of the route runs through the heart of the garden of Monteagudo, crossing one by one the forts of King Wolf: Larache, Castillejo and Castillo, ending the test under the imposing walls the medieval fortress.

Both runners and hikers, over 16 years old, can participate in two tours: Rey Lobo Epic Trail 21K (800 meters of positive elevation gain) and Rey Lobo Experience 14K (600 meters of positive elevation gain).

Likewise, they can be registered in individual category, teams or pairs.

The inscription on the Rey Lobo Epic Trail costs 23 euros, while the Rey Lobo Experience costs 15 euros.

The departure of the walkers will take place at 20.30 hours while that of the runners will be at 21 hours.

The bibs can be collected from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Decathlon Murcia Oeste, in the Sewer Industrial Estate, or from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Collado Cultural Center (former school) in Monteagudo.

Along with the bib number will be delivered to all participants, exclusive T-shirt and runner bag.
