The School Our Lady of Consolation now has the plaque that accredits it as 'Green School' (06/06/2019)

The councilman of Planning, Environment, Water and Kitchen Garden, Antonio Navarro, has delivered this morning the plaque that recognizes the school Our Lady of Consolation, Espinardo, as 'Green School', winner of this award in its edition of 2018

This center participates in the program of the City of Murcia since 2015. "During these years, their work and effort have been noted with the help of the entire teaching community, but especially with its main players, children and the girls who, from Infantil to the last year of Secondary Education and guided by their teachers, have made it possible for their school to be an example to follow today ", explained Navarro.

The action plan of this center includes various actions such as the creation of an environmental committee, the carrying out of an environmental diagnosis and the establishment of a proposal for activities, and the installation of different green areas according to the Infant, Primary and Secondary spaces.

Likewise, they have created a basic informative reference point in the center with the types of waste, results of the ecoauditoría, informative posters on the tasks of patrols vedes of the center, messages and slogans on the importance of preserving the environment, environmental news ...

They have also established a clean point with different containers, to collect, paper, containers, batteries and plastic stoppers and have organized in the recesses the Green Patrol in which all students of Primary and Secondary participate.

Other actions implemented at the school are the collection of solidarity plugs, the establishment of an 'Aluminum 0' program and its school garden that Secondary students use as 'outdoor laboratory'.

Councilman Navarro has indicated that "it is a center that has been participating in Green Schools for 3 years, but for years it has been instilling in its students a profound environmental culture." For this, all the teachers participate actively, and have achieved a high level of involvement of all the educational community, they have been able to develop the whole process of Green Schools, and most importantly, they have managed to transmit it to students and parents, in a continuous and daily way ".

For its part, the IES The Basilica of Algezares obtained yesterday, June 5, the World Environment Day, its 'Green School' award for its integrating project 'Educating in sustainability in the IES The Basilica'.

They also awarded three accésit to the schools Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, Santa Rosa de Lima and Vistabella, for their perseverance and perseverance in transmitting values ​​of sustainability to the entire teaching community.

In the current year 2018-2019, a total of 28 schools participated in the Green Schools program, of which 17 already have their Green School award.

Some of them combine their participation in this program with the school gardens and other activities of the environmental education program.

Since the launch of this initiative in the 2001-2002 academic year, 58 are the centers that have participated and 21 of them have been awarded with the 'Green Schools' award in recognition of their work.

All of them have managed to comply with the marked environmental and educational objectives.

It is necessary to remember that last September the "Network of Green Schools of the municipality of Murcia" was launched, where 32 centers met to sign a document that accredited the adhesion to said Network.

Since one of the objectives is to promote a forum for the exchange of experiences, last March, the Network Experience Exchange Day was organized. In this meeting around 60 participants had the opportunity to participate, debate and exchange ideas on some of the environmental issues most worked in Green Schools, such as energy efficiency, reduction of plastic or aluminum waste, sustainable mobility, noise-free schools ...
