Employment allocates 80,000 euros to boost entrepreneurship (06/06/2019)

The Department of Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, directed by Jesús Pacheco, has organized the 2nd edition of the 'City, Creativity, Culture and Entrepreneurship' Awards and the XXVII Business Projects Competition.

In both cases, these are two of the most advanced initiatives promoted by the City of Murcia to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship, both to launch new business ideas and to encourage companies related to architecture, performing arts and visual arts. , social media, tourism and gastronomy, among others.

The budget of both amounts to 80,000 euros.

The registration period to participate in these competitions is already open, closing, in the case of Awards 'City, Creativity, Culture and Entrepreneurship', on the 28th, and in the Business Projects Contest, on July 26.

Pacheco presented this morning both contests, accompanied by the president of the Association of Professionals of Design and Advertising Communication of the Region of Murcia (DIP), Juana Mari Valcárcel, along with the designers of the posters, Daniel Caballero (creativity awards) and José Alberto García Santiago.

"What we intend with both competitions is to promote, promote and disseminate the entrepreneurial culture of Murcia, encouraging the creation of employment and increasing the local business fabric, offering financial support to start up their business initiatives.

It is one more sign that one of the most important commitments of the Government Team is to promote and develop policies aimed at facilitating the creation of employment in the municipality, "explained Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs in office.

Creative companies

The aim of the awards 'City, Creativity, Culture and Entrepreneurship' is the promotion of the cultural and creative companies of the municipality, allowing their identification, the promotion of the channels of participation and the interrelation between them, thus contributing to reach greater visibility.

The proposals have to be related to architecture, visual arts, performing arts, crafts and antiques, cinema, design (graphic, industrial, editorial, product and interior), digital distribution, digital publishing, photography and video, participatory generation of content and social media, research and development, games, computer games, fashion, mobility and location, music, open data, cultural and natural heritage, press, content production, advertising, radio, television and new media, tourism and gastronomy, software, video and videogames.

The Jury will evaluate the viability (40%), the quality and interest of the project (40%) and the innovative character (20%).

The total amount of the prizes is 20,000 euros: up to 6,500 euros for the first, up to 5,500 euros the second and up to 4,000 euros the third.

There will also be a special category award aimed at Performing Arts and Musical Industries Projects, endowed with up to 4,000 euros.

The presented projects will be included in the Cultural and Creative Residences and in workshops that are taught in municipal spaces, and will participate in the next Municipal Entrepreneurs Fair.

In addition, all the participants whose projects have been considered viable will be able to avail themselves of the advice of the staff of the Municipal Initiatives Center.

Encourage self-employment

On the other hand, the XXVII of the Business Projects Contest aims to encourage self-employment through financial aid, training and municipal advice, motivating Murcian entrepreneurs in a search for opportunities and business ideas that favor the creation of businesses and reactivate the economy and employment.

The projects will have to be after January 1, 2018 and may be related to any type of sector or economic activity.

The evaluation indicators of the jury will be the technical, commercial, economic and financial viability;

the degree of innovation, differentiation and originality of the products and services offered, the impact on the environment and the boosting effect on local economic activity and Social value.

The total amount of the prizes is 60,000 euros, distributed as follows:

- First Prize: up to a maximum of 20,000 euros and a training grant amounting to 3,600 euros in ENAE Business School, granted by the University Business Foundation of the Region of Murcia, for the 2019/2020 academic year.

- Second Prize: up to a maximum of 15,000 euros and a training grant amounting to 1,500 euros in ENAE Business School, awarded by the University Business Foundation of the Region of Murcia, for the 2019/2019 academic year.

- Third Prize: up to a maximum of 10,000 euros

Both the creativity prizes and the business projects competition, applications to participate will be presented in the General Register of the City of Murcia and a copy of all documentation will be sent to the email cim@ayto-murcia.es.

Individuals with habitual residence in Murcia, individually or in groups, as well as small and medium-sized companies whose social and fiscal domicile may be the municipality or outside, as long as the project is planned to take place in Murcia can participate.
