Murcian schoolchildren are involved in the protection of the environment (05/06/2019)

The acting mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, together with the councilor of Urbanism, Environment, Water and Huerta in office, Antonio Navarro, have delivered this morning of the World Environment Day awards to schoolchildren and schools that have highlighted during this course for its commitment to nature and sustainability, within the various environmental programs of the City.

"First, I want to congratulate you for your responsibility, because with your individual gestures, apparently small, you build society.

Second, I want to congratulate you for your generosity, for thinking about others, for your commitment to the environment and the future of our society.

In the third place, I want to congratulate you for your creativity, effort, work and talent when creating these drawings and texts, "said José Ballesta.

In the eighteenth edition of the Green Schools Program, a total of 28 educational centers participated, among which IES La Basilica, of Algezares, which has obtained the Green Schools Award for its involvement in the improvement of environmental behavior of the whole educational community on an ongoing basis throughout the academic year 2018-2019.

This center has received a diploma and a prize of 250 euros that will be used to carry out actions that involve environmental improvements for the center.

Three centers that already obtained this award in previous editions have also been rewarded, and that by continuing to work and improving the environmental sustainability of the center they deserve recognition.

Thus, CEIP Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, CEIP Vistabella and CEIP Santa Rosa de Lima of El Palmar have received an honorable mention.

On the other hand, in the sixth edition of the Program of School Gardens have participated a total of 50 educational centers, receiving the 'School Gardens Award' CEIP La Arboleda for being the center that has understood the way of teaching through vegetables and the earth turning its school garden into an educational, social, family and cultural garden.

This center has received a diploma and a prize of 250 euros to continue making environmental improvements.

CEIP Painter Pedro Cano and AYS Education Center have also been awarded for maintaining the school garden as a cross-sectional project receiving a second prize.

Posters and stories awards

Also distinguished today are students who have participated in the 'Drawing and Writing Contest for Schoolchildren', whose central theme has been 'Healthy food.

Sustainable consumption'.

In the poster contest, 16 students (first, second and third place) of the 263 participating students from 17 educational centers were awarded.

In the category of 1st and 2nd Primary has won Emilio José Conesa with 'Come Sano' of CEIP San Andrés;

in the 3 rd and 4 rd years of Primary, the work of Elena Izquierdo 'Huerto Kaway and eating vegetables is Guay' from the CEIP Nuestra Señora del Paso de La Ñora was awarded, while in the 5th and 6th grade of Primary the winner was Jonathan Gutiérrez with 'La Pirámide del Pharaoh Alimenticio', from CEIP San Andrés.

In 1st and 2nd of ESO the best drawing has been that of Alba Aguilera with 'Planta tu Salud' from IES Sangonera la Verde, while between the 3rd and 4th ESO works Esperanza Hernández has highlighted with 'Tú eliges que huella quieres leave 'of IES Sangonera la Verde.

In the category of Special Education, the first prize has been awarded to José Antonio Mármol with 'Vida sana' from the CEIP Antonio Delgado Dorrego of Sangonera la Verde.

As for the writing contest, stories and poetry, in total this year a total of 46 students from 9 educational centers participated, of which eight have been awarded.

In the 5th and 6th grades of primary school, the first prize was awarded to Ángeles Ainhoa ​​Aquino with 'Vivan las frutas y verduras' from CEIP San Andrés;

between the students of 1st and 2nd of ESO has highlighted Inés López with the play 'For a better world' of IES Sangonera la Verde, and in category of 3º and 4º of ESO Alejandra Cifuentes has been awarded with 'Entre nosotros' of IES Alquerías.
