The University of Murcia organizes this Friday, May 31, the conference 'Praderas marinas, where biodiversity is hidden' by Juan Manuel Ruiz Fernández, scientist of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography and the Oceanographic Center of Murcia.
The talk will take place in the video room of the Faculty of Biology at 12 noon.
Seagrasses are key habitats in warm, temperate seas of the coastal marine ecosystems of the planet.
They are ecosystems particularly vulnerable to the pressure of human activities, which is why their rate of loss on a global scale has accelerated in recent decades.
Discovering and understanding this biodiversity on the part of society is a key aspect for the conservation of these valuable habitats.
Juan Manuel Ruiz will invite attendees to discover this biodiversity associated with the Mediterranean marine grasslands, specifically Posidonia oceanica and Cymodocea nodosa, two large marine forests of our coast.
The presentation is part of the activities carried out to mark the 40th anniversary of Ecology at the University of Murcia.
