Last year, social services managed 37,029 requests for prior appointments, compared with 32,453 in 2017, 32,342 in 2016 and 31,048 in 2015.

The increase experienced in 2018 responds to a large extent to improvements in the primary care of municipal social services launched by the City of Murcia in recent months, which, among other measures, has increased the number of professionals from 32 to 42 social, creating 9 new social work units to set up a network of 40 teams.

This network is transversal and there are numerous and very diverse procedures that are carried out, not necessarily linked to poverty or exclusion.

From everything related to dependency, to information about social benefits, situations of loneliness, cohabitation imbalances, school absenteeism, problems of social and labor reintegration, gender violence, social bond of water and light, as well as the provision of emergency aids , etc., as well as numerous reports requested from the education, health, employment or justice administrations.

'The improvement plan we have carried out has not only meant a higher quality of care provided to citizens, but we also wanted to facilitate the conditions of access to the public system of social services to the entire population of the municipality to the maximum' , explained Conchita Ruiz, Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation in functions.
