Pérez: "Four years later, the historical claim of undergrounding is a reality" (24/05/2019)

The Official State Gazette today publishes the addendum to the 2006 agreement as a step prior to the hiring of the pending works to complete the burial of the train tracks in the city, a demand for which 'we have fought and we have worked these years' , emphasizes the spokeswoman of the PP, Rebeca Perez.

"Complete the burial of the 8 kilometers of roads that divide the neighborhoods is 'our just claim and also our right', insists, emphasizing that the budget, estimated at 617 million euros, is the largest public investment received by the municipality in all its history.

Remember the councilor that 'four years ago there was not a single meter or tendered or works and at this time half is in execution and the rest will start immediately, after the step taken today'.

In the last four years, the teams that have intervened to get here have been different: 'Three ministerial teams, two political parties, and different representatives in the Ministry of Development and in Adif, with which the City Council has held hundreds of meetings since 2015 ', explains Rebeca Pérez, who insists that the burial project has been, by far, the one that' we have dedicated more effort, more perseverance and more work '.

"The important thing," he concludes, "is that by applying consensus, moderation and agreement, in the end we have managed to make the project a reality with funding and deadlines."

Extraordinary plenary

In order to be able to proceed with the adjudication of this second phase, it was necessary that the Plenary Session of the City Council approve the addendum to the 2006 agreement. This step took place in an extraordinary plenary session held on the 6th.

After this agreement, the economic quantification of the work places the costs of the project at 617.25 million euros, of which correspond to the City Council 41.44 M €, of which 14.5 M € on account of the current year and the The rest will be made in successive contributions until 2028.

Perez emphasizes that the entire burial project is assured funding from the three state, regional and local administrations.

The award that Adif will be able to carry out now covers the second and last phase, from El Carmen to its exit at Nonduermas.

Meanwhile, the first phase continues, between the Tiñosa bridge and the entrance to the station.

In this way, the 8 kilometers of underground roads in the city are guaranteed.

Finally, the popular spokesperson highlights that "all Murcia have contributed to the disappearance of that artificial barrier that were the roads and this desire is becoming reality."
