The façade of the Annex Building of the Town Hall will be lit tomorrow in orange on the occasion of the commemoration of the National Day of Epilepsy.
The Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, in collaboration with Sports and Health, led by Rebeca Pérez and Felipe Coello, intend to contribute to make visible and sensitize Murcia to this disease.
This is an initiative promoted by the National Association of People with Epilepsy-ANPE to inform about the reality and needs of patients with this disease, which presents a set of neurological disorders characterized by the presentation of recurrent seizures that can produce, among others many manifestations, loss of consciousness and convulsions.
Epilepsy affects around 50 million people worldwide and 400,000 in Spain, of which about 100,000 suffer from drug-resistant epilepsy.
Every year between 12,400 and 22,000 new cases are diagnosed in Spain, according to data from the Spanish Society of Neurology.
