Podemos-Equo: "We will create a Cultural Passport to provide young people with access to the most diverse culture" (22/05/2019)

The mayoral candidate of Murcia for Podemos-Equo has put culture at the center of its program to revitalize the sector and offer young people a diverse, broad and established offer in municipal creation, thus revitalizing the sector and "taking out the culture of political improvisation to which the Popular Party has submitted it. "

For this, in addition, from Podemos-Equo aim to promote Murcia as a university city where young people "occupy the place that corresponds"

Ginés Ruiz Maciá has assured that the culture in the municipality of Murcia has been "subject to cuts and partisan use" for more than 20 years.

Therefore, the candidate of Podemos-Equo to the mayor considers urgent "an integral redefinition of cultural policies, based on the construction of a new relationship between citizenship and culture, more involved, close and plural."

For Ruiz Maciá, it is essential to return the sector to the cultural creators and to all the inhabitants of the municipality, both in the center and in the neighborhoods and districts ".

In this sense, the proposal of the coalition is to "decentralize culture and provide content to the cultural and municipal centers of the neighborhoods and districts, because we have the infrastructure but is not being used properly."

It has also proposed that the management of these centers "be designated in an objective and equitable manner, responding to questions of curriculum, project and merit, not to the free designation left by the programming under the submission of the Roundabout, and not responding to criteria quality".

The program of Podemos-Equo for the municipality of Murcia places special emphasis on the young population and, for this, proposes the creation of a Cultural Passport that "will facilitate and lower the cost of access to culture".

With this passport, young people can access a wide and diverse cultural offer at affordable prices so that "this sector of the population can access this type of leisure without appealing to economic problems".

On the other hand, and with the young population in the spotlight, Ginés Ruiz Maciá has been marked among its main objectives to place Murcia on the map of the cities

university.

For this, not only must we put the cultural sector on the agenda of priorities, "we must also work in a coordinated manner with the University of Murcia".

Among the measures proposed by the candidate is to "promote the city internationally to be an attraction for Erasmus students".

Then, according to Ruiz Maciá said, provide elements so that your stay here is as productive as possible, "for example, providing students with decent housing at fair prices", and "improving mobility for students, and expanding the offer of study rooms in the neighborhoods and districts ".

"This municipality has everything necessary to become a benchmark for invigoration and cultural participation;

all that is lacking is the political will to do it, and certainly not those who have spent 24 years using culture and its management as a partisan instrument, to the detriment of the population and the cultural industry itself. "
