The international artist Mederic Turay begins his work in the pavilion of Santa María de Gracia (22/05/2019)

The Municipal Office of Graffiti, promoted by the Department of Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, directed by Rebeca Pérez, in collaboration with Ferrovial Servicios, joins once again the Murcia Street Art Project collective to bring artists of recognized prestige to the city as KraserTres, Mederic Turay, L7Matrix, Nels and Chapu, Karim Hamgeo and Ángel Toren, on the occasion of the MURAM project in Cartagena.

After the passing of four artists who have already left their work in the pavilion -Kraser, L7Matrix, Nels and Chapu-, the international artist Mederic Turay is currently giving life to his mural.

Mederic Turay, born in 1979 in Ivory Coast, was nourished by the artistic influences of the United States in a stay of several years in the country, before returning to his native country in 1995 to study Fine Arts.

In 1999 he was elected the youngest artist in West Africa.

His works are a combination of western modernity, mixed with African traditions and American influences, and are gaining notoriety and are present in prestigious collections.

When he concludes his work in Santa María de Gracia, the artist from Murcia Angel Toren will take over, who plans to finish the Karem Hamgeo project.

The agenda of these artists' interventions is scheduled to end on Thursday, May 30.

The collaboration of the graffiti office with Murcia Art Project already achieved successes in 2017, when the exhibition "Urban Art, from the street to the museum" was inaugurated, which reached more than 20,000 visits, and the murals exhibited by our city, including , together with the FREMM, created by different artists, both national and international.

This performance in Santa María de Gracia is a new intervention that is part of the awareness and prevention campaign on the need to keep the city clean, putting in value and transforming spaces to become places where you can enjoy the talent of artists.
