A course will give training on prevention and detection of violence against women with disabilities (22/05/2019)

Train municipal staff and other professionals and people interested in the early detection of situations of gender violence that may affect women with different functionalities, acquiring knowledge and tools for the prevention of these situations, is the fundamental objective of the course to be taught tomorrow at the Town Hall, organized by the Women's Section of the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation, which is directed by Conchita Ruiz.

It will be held tomorrow, Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in the assembly hall of the Annex Building, and will be offered by the Coordinator of the Cermi Women Foundation, Isabel Caballero.

It is aimed at municipal workers, especially those assigned to the personnel areas of the Councils of Social Rights and Development Cooperation and Health and Sports, together with members of associations of people with disabilities and professionals.

The initiative aims to incorporate the gender perspective in the field of intervention with people with disabilities and, at the same time, increase the knowledge, skills and tools to develop preventive projects on gender violence and disability.

Among its contents, the models and theoretical approaches in the field of disability will also be addressed;

gender and disability.

The Theory of Intersectionality;

the human rights of women and girls with disabilities in the light of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities;

gender violence against them;

other forms of violence;

and reproductive health of girls and women with disabilities.

The course will feature sign language interpreters from the association FESORMUR for deaf people and magnetic loop by the association ASPAMPAL to facilitate hearing to people with hearing aids, as well as accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

The course is part of the projects and actions of awareness and prevention in gender violence, conducted from the Department of Social Rights and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia under the subsidy received by the Ministry of the Presidency, relations with the Cortes and equality, through the State Pact against gender violence.
