ADN Urbano arrives in La Paz to improve the neighborhood's public spaces and coexistence (21/05/2019)

The prestigious team of international artists Boa Mistura is making, in the south area of the neighborhood, one of the largest outdoor artistic interventions in the world, with a total of 7,200 m2 of surface area and 1,500 kilos of ecological paint.

José Ballesta: "There are no two identical DNAs, in La Paz we seek the opening of spaces, the promotion of coexistence and social reactivation".

Improve the public spaces of the neighborhood proposed by the neighbors themselves and encourage participation and coexistence.

These are the main objectives of the ADN Urbano La Paz initiative, which is already materializing in the different streets of this Murcia neighborhood.

"This initiative adapts to the idiosyncrasy and personality of each neighborhood.

There are not two identical DNAs.

In La Paz we look for the opening of spaces, the promotion of coexistence, the connection of the neighbors with their neighborhood and the social reactivation ", underlined the mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta

In the south area of the neighborhood, in particular, in the Rio Tajo street, the most emblematic action of this social initiative is being developed: a large artistic mural on the buildings themselves, in which, in just a few days, you can read the word 'Alma', next to the phrase 'Together we are neighborhood', in the adjoining buildings.

It is one of the largest outdoor artistic interventions in the world, with a total of 7,200 m2 of surface area and in which 1,500 kilos of ecological paint (Ambient-Pro and Emission 0) will be used.

The performance has been designed together with the neighbors themselves, and is being developed by six artists from the internationally renowned Boa Mistura team, five local artists from the Graffiti Office and 11 neighborhood residents who were unemployed.

Boa Mistura is integrated by artists with different professional profiles (architects, graphic designers, graduates in Fine Arts ...) and has carried out projects in: South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, USA, UK, Georgia, Algeria, Norway, United Kingdom, Serbia, Colombia, Cuba, Kenya, Chile, Panama or Madrid.

School of soccer, improvement of the Four Pergolas and the palm grove

The ADN Urbano La Paz project includes other activities such as the creation of a soccer school with one of the best clubs in Spain, El Pozo Murcia.

"It is already underway, training has begun, and has more than 50 students (boys and girls) from the neighborhood of 6 to 15 years," explained José Ballesta.

Shock cleanups and deratting treatments have also been developed and accessible itineraries are being created, improving sidewalks and eliminating obstacles.

Another measure is the next rehabilitation of the main meeting point of the neighbors, the Four Pergolas, which are the heart of the neighborhood, installing new playgrounds and living areas.

DNA Urbano is going to carry out the arrangement of the La Paz Palm Grove, the complete improvement of La Fama Avenue and the opening of the streets of Tarragona, Málaga and Río Ebro to improve the connection of the neighborhood.

Creation of a Social Table

Through the ADN Urbano project, a social table has been opened in the neighborhood in which the council of Social Rights and the neighbors participate.

At present, different social projects are being developed: with minors in situations of social exclusion, absenteeism for Roma children and empowerment of women in situations of social exclusion.
