Councilman Guillén visits the works of seven new shadow areas in children's spaces of the municipality (21/05/2019)

Currently these works are being developed in Casillas, El Esparragal, Santiago and Zaraiche, Vistalegre, Infante and Ranero

Councilman Guillén has begun today the visit of this works that will be extended to 120 new gardens and children's areas of the districts and neighborhoods of the city expanding the shadow systems of the municipality from the current 32 to 159

The Park and Gardens Service, under the Department of Modernization of the Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, continues working on the installation of pergolas in seven green areas of the municipality.

Thus, Councilman Guillén has visited the works that are being developed to provide shade in Paseo de los Regulares de Melilla (Santiago and Zaraiche), Paseo Santa Águeda (Vistalegre), Plaza del Sagrado Corazón (Casillas), Calle Iniestas (Santiago and Zaraiche) ), Calle Jorge Manrique (Infante), Calle Músico Francisco Cebrián (Ranero) and Calle Pintor Molina Sánchez (El Esparragal).

"In Murcia, it is essential to carry out the Shadow Plan to guarantee the health of our neighbors and create conditioned and safe spaces," said José Guillén.

Already have this improvement 32 green areas of the municipality, of which 19 are from districts such as Zeneta, Valladolises, Lobosillo, La Raya, La Ñora, El Palmar, Gea and Truyols, Los Garres, Espinardo or Era Alta.

It must be remembered that the new contract for the maintenance and restoration of green areas includes the installation of another 120 shading pergolas.

The Park and Garden Service continues to respond to the requests made by families and neighbors, who demand the extension of the surfaces with shade in outdoor leisure spaces.

"We work so that children can play throughout the year, protected from solar radiation and high temperatures." Parks and gardens are leisure and meeting areas for Murcian families, so it is essential that they are properly conditioned to be able to enjoy them at any time of the year In Murcia it was necessary to carry out this Shadow Plan to guarantee the health of our neighbors and create spaces conditioned and safe "José Guillén highlighted.

To do this, the Park and Garden Service combines the most modern covering systems-pergolas and micro-perforated tensile structures that reduce the temperature of the game area by several degrees-with the natural shade projected by large trees, providing an average of 100m2 of shadow in each children's play area.

In addition, each and every one of the new children's play areas that are projected are designed with previous shadow study that guarantees, at least, 50% of space protected from the sun's rays on its entire surface.
