The City of Murcia is studying the mechanism to prevent the rise in pensions does not affect the people who enjoyed the social bonus of buses and tram.
The rise in pensions has meant that retirees and pensioners have lost their right to renew their social bonds, since they are referenced to the minimum interprofessional salary.
Thus, an increase of 5 or 10 euros, has meant the loss of this right, since so far the legal reference is at 661.77 euros.
And this has happened because in the last Council of Ministers in 2018 there was an increase in the minimum interprofessional salary to 900 euros, but this amount was excluded as a reference in benefits or benefits in public services, such as transport subsidies.
Therefore, and making use of the legal authorization that RDL 1462/2018 of December 21, which sets the new SMI, the Plenary of the Corporation approved a motion to implement the corresponding provision.
This regulation, which is already being studied by the municipal technical and economic services, will regulate that at least, the increase of pensions to people who until now enjoyed the social bonus, does not affect them and therefore they can continue to renew it.
The Councilor for Finance, Contracting and Urban Mobility, Eduardo Martínez-Oliva, foresees that this new agreement can be carried out by the new Corporation as soon as the mandate begins, since this issue is the responsibility of the Municipal Plenary, being urgent and of necessary application to promote the transport to the most vulnerable groups, who have seen a minimum pension increase and who nevertheless prevents them from accessing the social bonus to use the bus because it costs them more than they have increased their pension.
