The partners of the Life project of Spain and Italy meet at the Catholic University to present to the evaluator of the European Commission the progress made

The evaluator of the European Commission in the category of Life projects has met in the UCAM with representatives of the International Projects Office of the UCAM, headed by Pablo Cano, and the partners of UCAM (Spain), Hidrogea (Spain), Hidrotec (Spain), Regenera Levante (Spain), National Technological Center for Food and Preservation (Spain), University of Bari "Aldo Moro" (Italy) and the research center Consiglio Nazionale delle RicercheIstituto per i processi Chimico Fisici (Italy) .

This is a meeting where the consortium has exposed the evolution of the actions carried out up to the date in which the prototype installed at the Hidrogea plant (Cartagena) has been evaluated.

In this second meeting with the representative of the Commission, the researchers, led by the team of the UCAM, have exposed how it is working on a semi-industrial scale with previous treatment by membranes and advanced oxidation systems, which is allowing results in the cleaning of emerging contaminants with drugs and phytosanitary products, in most cases greater than 90%.

During the day, in addition, some relevant data have been highlighted for the evolution of the project such as the disinfection of these wastewater as a parallel effect to said cleaning processes.

José Antonio Gabaldón, principal investigator of the UCAM Group, leader of the project, pointed out that "at this moment the team is working on the next phase that will complete the cleaning, using cyclodextrin polymers".

After the evaluation meetings held with the different project partners, the European adviser visited the installations of the WWTP where the prototype (Hidrogea) is installed.
