Serrano chooses the bus station of San Andrés to open a large space of creative and artistic activity (14/05/2019)

The socialist candidate for the Mayor of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, today presented the project La Estación Cultural, an infrastructure for the artistic and creative activity that will occupy the current facilities of the bus station when it is no longer in operation.

"Continuing with our line of locating the most emblematic projects or of more weight in the areas of the municipality that suffer the most damage, we have chosen this time the San Andrés neighborhood, where we want to start La Estación Cultural, taking advantage of the current facilities of the Bus station, which will be relocated when the train tracks are buried ", explains Serrano.

The objectives are three, create a cultural focus from the neighborhood of San Andrés but for the entire municipality, reuse the space of the station after its transfer and reactivate the neighborhood with the rehabilitation of buildings.

"We are talking about a medium-term project, which we want to expose the citizens to have their participation and opinion and which is linked to the burial of the train tracks, an immense work that will allow us to transform the entire municipality. a modern intermodal station will be installed and, therefore, the current one of San Andrés will be in disuse ".

Likewise, as in Barriomar, La Estación Cultural brings with it the rehabilitation of the most deteriorated buildings in the neighborhood, while this cultural infrastructure is presented as an opportunity in which, with a moderate economic investment, a cultural facility that includes both spaces will be created. of work as expository.

The areas of commercial premises would form the fixed part of the proposal, housing the areas of work, rehearsal, administration, meeting and other requirements of the cultural program.

In turn, the dock and bus route is presented as an ideal space for exhibitions of various creations.

It is intended that this center of culture be managed by its own users, so as to guarantee a free and quality cultural development and production.

This would suppose a strong impulse to the district of San Andres, creating in its nucleus a reference center in the cultural field within the city.

"We want to change this municipality from top to bottom, but without losing its essence, because it is part of our memory and our past, so this initiative aims to preserve an emblematic space, which any Murcian or Murcian has used at some point and reconvert it so that it remains an open space for all citizens. "

Serrano said that the Culture Station should be added Nature Barriomar and Más Fica, "all of them large-scale projects that will allow us to place this municipality in the preponderant place it deserves and finally abandon the sad figures of exclusion or unemployment".
