Seven students of the UMU participate in Turkey in a project on refugee childhood (10/05/2019)

Seven students from the University of Murcia, together with the sociology professor Marta Latorre, participated this week in the dialogue week of the Erasmus + KA3 Project 'See Like a Child', held in the Turkish city of Izmir.

The project, which also includes students from the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (Portugal), the University of Patras (Greece) and the University of Economics of Izmir (Turkey), aims to raise awareness and raise awareness about the situation of girls and refugee children, as well as promoting the involvement of young Europeans as agents of social change.

From 6 to 10 May different activities have been carried out, such as conferences, training seminars, group dynamics or games with refugee girls and boys.

The students of the University of Murcia have had the opportunity to share with the rest of the participants information about the situation of childhood and refuge in Spain, as well as some results of the activities that the research team of the European project 'Refugium' , from the Department of Sociology of the UMU, has been developing since 2016.

During these days, a joint document has been prepared to be presented to various public officials, both Turkish institutions and the European Union and other international organizations.

This agreement aims to promote a greater commitment of the different public institutions in the development of policies that guarantee the rights of refugee children in the world.
