Corresponsables takes stock in the UMU of the Sustainable Development Goals with the presentation of the Yearbook 2019 (09/05/2019)

The Stewards' Day 'Third anniversary of the SDGs: Current situation and future challenges of the 2030 Agenda' has brought together in Murcia personalities from the world of Social Responsibility and sustainability.

The event has counted with the collaboration of Aguas de Murcia, the Chair of CSR and the University of Murcia.

At the inaugural table, Concepción Ruiz, Delegate Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation of the City of Murcia, pointed out that "2030 million people have already committed to this Agenda, it is an agenda for the people and for the people. that which has guaranteed success ".

"We are working on this Agenda 2030 with the University of Murcia and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, which requires the involvement of all citizens to achieve ODS," he added.

Javier Cortés, Head of the Global Compact Head Cities Program, has pointed out that "we are not an era of change but a change of era, with more interconnected and complex societies in which it is fundamental to build trust".

In addition, he added that "the company is challenged to align its business strategy to the SDGs, if it does not integrate the SDGs into its decision making, it will be putting its own DNA at risk".

For his part, Ricardo Martín, Director of Communication of Corresponsables, explained that the Corresponsables Yearbook is a living concept throughout a digital ecosystem.

Longinos Marín, director of the Chair of CSR at the University of Murcia, stressed that "we will have few opportunities like the ones offered by the ODS, we will be very sorry for this, but we take this opportunity." We seek to raise awareness in the classrooms so that the leaders of tomorrow's opinion, the SDGs are taken seriously, "he assured.

ODS and large companies

The first table, entitled 'Large companies before the SDGs', was attended by representatives of Aguas de Murcia, Hero and Jisap, being moderated by Longinos Marín, Director of the Chair of CSR of the University of Murcia .

Pilar Megía, Responsible for CSR of Aguas de Murcia, explained that "we have a strategic plan for sustainable development 2018-2030 that we will review every three years and with an annual execution period." Finally, the UN has realized that private companies can be the engine of global change through the SDGs ".

In the opinion of Pilar Megía "we should not think of the SDGs as something complicated, because we can be contributing to the 2030 Agenda by asking ourselves a few simple questions such as: can I feel proud of the decision I am going to make? What do my stakeholders say? ? I am contemplating all the variables, social and ethical environmental?

For his part, Luis Pérez, HR, Lean Office, CSR and Hero Communication, said that "CSR has inspired our values ​​for more than 130 years" and explained that "we work on CSR on four fundamental axes: environmental sustainability, social sustainability, sustainable talent and economic sustainability ".

Luis Pérez explained the Bee Careful project: "We have planted the flowers that the bees like the most in the area of ​​wheat fields of suppliers in Teruel, the goal is to increase the number of pollinators and this is being achieved".

For José Ramón García, JISAP HR and CSR Director, he pointed out that "we dedicate special affection to our workers because it is a very demanding sector, in fact, we are signatories of the Diversity Charter, taking care of the inclusion of disadvantaged groups".

For José Ramón García, "animal welfare and the environment are fundamental for our company, in fact, we are a pioneer company in the sector in obtaining the ISO 14000".

"In 2018, and as an example of how companies can contribute to the SDGs, we organized a charity concert with the Down Lorca Association, attended by more than 500 people," he added.

Interest groups

The table 'Stakeholders reflect on the challenges of the SDGs', has had several representatives of the third sector, moderated by Pedro Cuestas, Director of Training of the Chair of CSR and Coordinator of the Master of CSR at the University of Murcia.

Rafael Pérez, General Director of the Diagrama Foundation, explained that "we work for the integration of people at risk of social exclusion".

"We do everything possible to transfer the essence of the SDGs to our day to day," he added.

For Cristina Abellán, Coordinator of Social Action of the Cajamurcia Foundation, "we have poverty very close to home and we must work to eradicate it, without forgetting the poverty of the countries of the South, we can not turn our backs on them".

"We must give visibility to the refugees: thousands of people who do nothing but escape death and horror, we have a moral obligation to give them shelter," he added.

On the other hand, Unai Sánchez, technician of the NGO Coordinator of the Region of Murcia, stressed that "we are working to socially influence the population and promote a more critical and participatory society that generates positive changes."

Rosa Cano, Vice President of the Network to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion in the Region of Murcia (EAPN RM), said that "one of our objectives is to include the fight against poverty in the political agenda."

"The current economic system is a predator of the environment," he added.

The Closing of the Corresponsables Day has been borne by Manuel Pleguezuelo, Director General of the European Union, External Action and Cooperation of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, who has indicated that "Europe is taking the 2030 Agenda as an opportunity".

"Public administrations have to leverage and be proponents of this Agenda 2030," he added.

14th edition of the Corresponsables Yearbook

The event served as the framework for the presentation of the 14th edition of the Corresponsables Yearbook, the leading publication of Social Responsibility and Sustainability in Spain.

In this 2019 edition there are more than 3,000 organizations referenced in any of the sections of the publication, which includes interviews, reports, opinion articles and an extensive compilation of practical cases and good practices.
