Change Murcia bets for a "brave" local government that defends diversity in the face of "hate speech" (08/05/2019)

The number 2 candidate of Cambiemos Murcia, Margarita Guerrero, has defended today the need that as of next May 26, the day on which the next municipal elections are held, there is "a courageous government committed to human rights", which defend diversity, put in place effective measures of awareness and confront the "discourse of hatred and exclusion" of certain political groups.

This has been transferred by Guerrero, accompanied by the candidates Sergio Ramos;

Mercedes Nicolás;

Piedad Fernández, Rubén Garre and John David Babyack, representatives of NoTePrives and ASFAGALEM (Association of Families of Gays and Lesbians of the Region of Murcia), in a meeting in which the municipal training has collected proposals from these groups to incorporate them into the program election that will mark the way forward in the next four years.

Guerrero recalled the obligation of the Autonomous Community to comply with Law 8/2016, of May 27, on the social equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transgender and intersex and public policies against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and put in place the necessary tools to guarantee the effective fulfillment of the rights of the LGTBI collective.

In this regard, he commented that from the municipal level "you can and should implement activities that contemplate the inclusion of the LGTBI theme in the cultural program of the municipality, through the development of awareness and awareness campaigns in different spaces, both centers juveniles as centers for women or the elderly ".

"It is important not to lower our guard in the visibility of diversity so that the stigmas that people continue to suffer from the collective are eliminated," said Guerrero, who has also proposed the implementation of an agreement with the municipality's organizations for the celebration of the LGBTI Pride.

It has also defended the importance of betting on culture and leisure policies aimed at the younger population and providing sufficient resources for municipal information points, in order to effectively address the demands of the LGTBI group aimed at giving it more visibility.

It has also considered "fundamental" to support from public institutions acts intended to combat discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and publicly repudiate any discriminatory message.

"That is the commitment of Cambiemos Murcia both in the municipal boards and in La Glorieta," he concluded.
