The UCAM has made this week the presentation of the activity 'Carthage', which consists of the simulation of the sinking of a submarine.
The Faculty of Communication participates in the simulation with the objective of teaching the Navy how to deal with communication management during a crisis.
This exercise was also carried out last year, where the students of the Catholic University moved with all the necessary elements to communicate, investigate and produce information.
Pablo Blesa Aledo, Vice Chancellor of International Relations and Communication, explained that this exercise has been possible thanks to the agreement that the UCAM has signed with the Ministry of Defense, "the Navy Submarine of Cartagena is going to present to the students a proposal that we are going to carry out the month of May, 50 students of the University will participate with the objective of testing the communicative resistance of the Armada de Submarinos de Cartagena ".
Alejandro Cuerdas, commander of the Submarine Flotilla, affirmed that the experience of this activity carried out last year was excellent, "since we learned to communicate with the media and society".
Alejandro concludes by explaining that "everything that allows us to show humanity what the Submarine Navy does is very positive for me, since the military is also part of society".
This exercise that will take place on the mainland will take place on May 21 and 22, where students will create audio-visual pieces about the sinking and will test the military personnel in the different press conferences that will be organized at the Cartagena Submarine Base. .
The real part at sea will begin on May 23 and will last until May 31, where underwater salvage and rescue means will be gathered.
