The City Council will invest 3.5 million euros in the maintenance of roads, sidewalks and pedestrian areas (26/04/2019)

The Governing Board has approved the specifications for contracting maintenance, conservation, repair and replacement of sidewalks and pedestrian areas of the city of Murcia.

This contract includes all the necessary actions for the correct state of conservation of the pavements of roadways and sidewalks and other pedestrian areas of the neighborhoods for their normal use.

Its purpose is the continued provision of repair work for damage that may occur on public roads during the duration of the service.

Specifically included in its obligations, among others, the demolition, paving, placement of curbs, scuppers, lids or boxes, joining, adjustment and fastening of existing loose tiles, laying pipes for irrigation networks, sanitation and water supply , and placement or replacement of fences, pivots and other defense elements to prevent the rise of vehicles to the sidewalks.

Also, the contractor will be responsible for removing the poles and other advertising or other elements, placed without municipal authorization in the public domain, place, preserve and maintain the street furniture, and remove the public goods, kiosks, tables, chairs, or planters that do not have municipal authorization.

In this way, the aim is to guarantee the safety and fluidity of pedestrian circulation and the necessary decorum and good appearance of the public road.

The duration of this contract will be until 2022, extendable for two years, and it will invest more than 3.5 million euros.

The maintenance contract currently in force has made 623 repairs on roads, 2,402 repairs on pavements and 2,902 interventions on pivots in the different districts.
