Appropriate to the ordinance that contemplates a decrease of up to 5.42% in the water bill (25/04/2019)

Now it must be ratified by the Plenary to be held next Tuesday.

The Committee on Infrastructure, Finance and General Affairs has given its approval to the initial approval of the regulatory ordinance for the rates for the provision of home water, sewerage and sanitation services and other services and activities provided in connection with the cycle integral of the water in the municipality of Murcia.

It includes the new water rates for 2019, which enhance its social character, incorporating a 20% reduction for all families in the vital section, up to 5 m3, and giving special coverage to families at risk of exclusion, those that will be applied a reduction of 25% of the fixed quota of water and sewage, that will be able to be applied also to the rate of rubbish.

In addition, the debt of customers subject to the social rate will be taken into account, which can accommodate 4,000 families, and the rate of conservation of meters is cut by 45%.

The rates of a social nature foreseen for water and sewerage consumption for families at risk of exclusion will be reduced by 25%.

This percentage will also apply to the garbage rate, provided that the sum of all the income of the members that inhabit the house does not exceed the SMI.

The ordinance also addresses the amortization of the old debt - of more than six months - for those who access the social rate.

For the less than half a year, the circumstances of each person will be met, but the supply cut will never be executed nor will legal actions be taken to recover it while the situation that gives the right to access the social rate lasts.

On the other hand, single-parent families or those with a disabled member who have a large family title despite being fewer than five members will be able to benefit from the reduced rate of housing with more than four members.

Finally, there will be an exemption of 100% of the fee for pouring water from the water table for users who meet the minimum conditions of discharge, one of the measures incorporated by the Citizen group with the approval of the Budgets.

This is the first time that tariffs have been approved as part of an ordinance, as a result of Law 9/2017 on Contracts of the Public Sector, which has introduced a series of modifications in the Spanish legal system that require adopting this ordinance for the purposes of to establish the proposal, approval and enforcement of the rates that must regulate the provision of the services of supply and sewerage of the municipality.
