A battle of about one million flowers (24/04/2019)

Murcia will live tomorrow its 'Battle of the Flowers', a parade in which allegorical floats participate in the traditional festivities of the Spring Festival as well as other themes, all decorated with natural flowers.

About a million flowers will be distributed to the public from the seven participating floats, among which the one dedicated to the Bando de la Huerta, the Burial of the Sardine and the Tunas Contest 'Costa Cálida' stand out.

In addition, in this edition is added one dedicated to Murcia's talent in which new artists from the municipality will participate.

The parade will also include two music bands (one from the Philippines and another from Mexico), four dance groups and seven comparsas from Murcia, Madrid, Pontevedra and Alicante.

At the beginning, serpentine and confetti will be distributed to recreate the 'battle' between those on the floats and the public.

This year the official music of the'Batalla de las Flores' will be a version of Bolero a Murcia recorded specifically for the parade and performed by 17 musicians.

The route, which will begin at 6:00 pm in Alfonso X, will pass through Santo Domingo Square, Alejandro Seiquer, Pza Cetina, Isidoro de la Cierva, Pza. Ceballos, Ceballos Street, Teniente Flomesta Avenue, Puente Nuevo, Volunteers Square , C / Princesa and will finish in the Priests Hermanos Cerón street, where the flowers that decorate the floats will be distributed.

Later, at 7:00 pm in the Plaza de Santa Isabel, the sardine will arrive in Murcia from Archena.

The parade of 'The Arrival of the Sardine' will begin at 20 hours in the Belluga Square, passing through Apostles, Isidoro de la Cierva, Cetina Square, Alejandro Seiquer, Santo Domingo Square, Santa Clara, Alonso Master, Gran Vía Salzillo, Plaza Martínez Tornel and arriving at Glorieta de España.

The 23 sardine groups that will distribute toys will participate in the event, along with ten animation and dance groups.

Around 22:30, the mayor of Archena, Patricia Fernandez, will deliver the sardine to the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, and the latter to the President of the Sardinera Association.

To finish it will be launched a fireworks castle courtesy of the City of Archena.
