Murcia will live its most international Burial of the Sardine next April 27 (09/04/2019)

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Culture and European Programs, Jesus Pacheco, announced this morning the main novelties of the programming developed by the Sardinera Association in the coming Spring Festival.

Pacheco stressed that "this will be the most international Burial of the Sardine and in which, above all, we will prioritize the show, and in this edition, the youngest will have a special role as they will live from within."

Thus, on Wednesday, April 24, the first Children's Funeral with 16 floats will be held and will be led by children accompanied by sardiner groups that will distribute toys to the attendees.

Later, the Great Chirrete and Doña Sardinilla will read the children's testament from the balcony of the City Hall.

At the end of the party, an ecological children's catafalque will be burned on Avenida Teniente Flomesta in front of the Town Hall and a fireworks castle will be launched.

The children's wake will change its location and will be held on Friday morning in Avenida de la Libertad, instead of in the Artillery Barracks as it was done in previous years.

The catafalque of the Burial of the Sardine, which will be presented soon, "will break with what has been seen so far and will be very innovative" said the councilor who added that "the parades will be promoted on Thursdays and Fridays, turning them into great parades, with greater number of participants and higher quality of the sets ".

On the other hand and for the first time, the Testament of the Sardine will be accessible as it will install a specific area for the disabled and a screen with subtitles and sign language.

The itinerary of the great procession of the Burial of the Sardine is also modified beginning at the beginning of the San Juan de la Cruz avenue and ending at the Díez de Revenga square.

This will allow the installation of stands of five heights on San Juan de la Cruz avenue, which will mean increasing the total number of seats by 10,600.

These chairs will go on sale at Ticketmaster

This parade will feature two winning companies from the street theater festival in Nice, a band from Thailand, a drum band from Russia, and four elements from France, as well as groups from Galicia, Cantabria, the Basque Country, Catalonia, Castilla y León and Andalusia.

In total, 2 million toys will be distributed, of which 150,000 will be leather balls.

Before the burning there will be an aerial dance show in the Plaza Martínez Tornel, while the fireworks castle will grow by 25% with four Murcian pyrotechnics (instead of three), which will be launched from the Miguel Caballero catwalk.
