Caravaggio's paintings will come to life next Thursday in the courtyard of the Episcopal Palace (08/04/2019)

Next Thursday, April 11, Murcia will host two artistic events to welcome the Holy Week.

On the one hand, the courtyard of the Episcopal Palace will host the theatrical show 'La Conversione di un Cavallo' by the Ludovica Theater Company of Naples in which 23 paintings by Caravaggio will come to life.

There will be two passes, one at 7pm and another at 8.30pm, with free admission until full capacity is reached.

The tableau vivant (living painting) is an artistic technique in which a group of actors or models recreate paintings.

In the nineteenth century it was shown in theaters and, with the passage of time, also reached the fields of photography, film, television and even video art.

The intention of this technique is to achieve a great visual impact with a minimalist scenography, baroque melodies by composers such as Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi and a focus located on one side, which emulates the light effect that appears in the works of the Italian painter.

On the other hand, also on Thursday at 20.30 in the Church of the Mercy, Fernández Caballero orfeón and Youth Orchestra 'Ciudad de Murcia' will offer a recital of sacred music performing works by Vivaldi, Schubert and Dobrogosz.
