Young Murcian talent puts his brushes at the service of maestro José María Párraga (03/04/2019)

The Plaza de Santo Domingo hosted today the II Outdoor Painting Contest that commemorates 22 years without José María Párraga, in which nearly a hundred ESO and Bachiller students from the institutes Floridablanca, El Carmen, CES Vega Media have participated of Alguazas, Vega Media of Archena, Prado Mayor of Totana, Isaac Peral of Cartagena, José Planes de Espinardo, Alcantarilla de Alcantarilla, Dos Mares of San Pedro del Pinatar, Antonio Hellín Coast of Puerto de Mazarrón.

"We are witnessing the boiling of Murcian young talent in all areas: painting, music, fashion, sculpture, graphic design, etc.

Today Santo Domingo hosts a show that is also a tribute to one of the greatest of the twentieth century, José María Párraga, an excellent painter and a great Murcia who participated actively in the day to day of our city, "said José Ballesta, who added "for the young painters who participate in this contest and who were born in the 21st century, this contest gives them the opportunity to approach the figure of this great artist and exhibit his works in an emblematic place, as is the Casino of Murcia ".

It will be from this Friday, April 5, when the Art Room of the Royal Casino, host the opening of the exhibition of the participating paintings, from 19.30.

The sample can be visited until April 11.

Since nine in the morning, the young people have reinterpreted in Santo Domingo Square, a work of Párraga chosen by them, being the free pictorial technique and with a minimum dimension of 45 centimeters and a maximum of one meter.

In his view to the event, organized by the initiative '20 years without José María Párraga ', IES Floridablanca and the City of Murcia, the mayor has been accompanied by the councilor for Infrastructure, Public Works and Services, Rebeca Pérez, and the councilor of Education, Heritage and Relations with Universities, Rafael Gómez.

At 13.30 each participant presented his work at the main door of the Cierva Peñafiel School.

The works have been delivered unsigned, along with a sealed envelope with the title, technique used and measurements of the work abroad, as well as the participant's information inside.

The jury of the contest, formed by personalities of the art world of the Region of Murcia, will meet at 17:00 hours at the IES Floridablanca to issue the decision of the contest.

The reproductions of the works will be on the web www.pintorparraga.com.

The first prize is valued at 275 euros in arts and trophy material, a second prize is 200 euros in arts and trophy material and a third prize is valued at 125 euros in arts and trophy material.

The objective of this contest is to raise awareness of the figure of the Murcian artist José María Párraga Luna, especially in the young population of the Region of Murcia, encourage the plastic arts among ESO and Bachillerato students of the Region of Murcia and reinterpret the work of José María Párraga under the prism of the participants.
