Mari Trini, Los Parrandboleros, the transplantation unit of the Arrixaca and the Virgen de la Vega group receive the distinctions and honors of the city (02/04/2019)

The Plenary of the City of Murcia, held today, has approved definitively and unanimously the awarding of various honors and distinctions to Mari Trini, Los Parrandboleros, the Arrixaca transplant unit and the folkloric group Virgen de la Vega.

Thus, María Trinidad Pérez Miravete Mille, Mari Trini, has been named Favorite Daughter of the City of Murcia, posthumously.

Recognized as one of the most outstanding Spanish singers and composers of the 70s and 80s, she achieved great successes that allowed her to sell more than 10 million albums in Spain and Latin America.

For decades she was an outstanding ambassador of her land and actively participated in its celebrations.

Also, the Plenary has agreed to award the Gold Medal of the City of Murcia to the Folkloric Group Virgen de la Vega, which throughout its history has shown a full and enthusiastic dedication in favor of the traditions and culture of Murcia.

During its 50 years of trajectory, the group has been fundamental piece in the promotion of the dance, the song and the gastronomy of our municipality.

The Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, national leader in organ donation and transplants, will be awarded with the Gold Medal of the city.

Realizes a collective work, where the great professionalism of the sanitary personnel is combined with the generosity of Murcia, something that has endowed Murcia with national and international recognition.

The Transplant Unit of the Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital, formed by professionals dedicated to the extraction and implant of organs, acts with excellence, generating life and hope, one of the most supportive and rewarding tasks that human beings can perform.

Similarly, the Plenary has agreed to award the Silver Medal of the City of Murcia to Los Parrandboleros, whose music, known and admired by all Murcia, has been a means through which to publicize the municipality in the rest of Spain.

The group, which turns 20, exports the name of Murcia wherever it goes and its altruism with causes of solidarity and links to the culture of our municipality make it worthy of this recognition.
