The PSOE denounces the high number of parks and gardens abandoned by the Ballesta government (31/03/2019)

Councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa urges the PP government and the councilor in charge, José Guillén, "to pose less for photos and walk more through Murcia to see the deplorable state of many parks and gardens of the municipality," including some in deplorable conditions as is the case of San José de la Vega or Santiago el Mayor

The Municipal Socialist Group has been demanding for years more care and maintenance of the parks and gardens of the municipality.

In addition to numerous press releases and public complaints, the PSOE in the City of Murcia has submitted motions to the municipal plenary, as well as requests and questions, without the situation of many playgrounds and gardens of the municipality improve.

"It hurts me like Murcia to see the carelessness of the Ballesta government, always worried about the gardens in front of the City Hall and in downtown areas, but absolutely impassive in the face of the deterioration of the parks and gardens of the districts." Our sons and daughters play in such deteriorated parks which are dangerous, with raised slabs, concrete areas, rusty fences, holes in the ground, etc. ", explained the socialist councilor Juan Vicente Larrosa.

The mayor, who has presented again a motion to be discussed at the municipal plenary next April 2, has invited the councilor in charge, José Guillén, to walk through the municipality of Murcia to see first-hand the shameful image presented by many of these playgrounds and gardens.

"We have seen how some of the parks in Mr. Guillén's neighborhood are highly deteriorated, so it is not surprising that if you are not able to notice the state of the gardens you go through every day, do not pay attention in the deterioration of other parks in the municipality or in the lack of pressing shadows, which suffocates the smallest and which is a matter of complaint from hundreds of neighbors, "said Larrosa.

The councilor of the PSOE has put several examples, such as the garden of new houses in the hamlet of San José de la Vega, whose refurbishment never comes.

Also in unfortunate conditions are several parks and gardens of Santiago el Mayor, among other neighborhoods and districts, with play areas "that pose a real danger to the safety of children and that denote a total lack of interest and a lack of flagrant functions by the PP government ".

Among the main and most recurrent problems are the unbanking of banks, uneven terrain, fences and broken doors, loose or broken swings, etc.

"In the case of Los Almendros, in La Alberca, the cracks in the walls and the lack of slabs on stairs and floors make the passage through there an obstacle test, and it is one of the many examples that exist in our municipality. ", the mayor has insisted.

Larrosa has offered to accompany Guillén on a visit to the municipality by personally teaching him these "abandoned" parks and gardens and has recognized the work of the socialist mayors, who have not stopped trying to improve these green areas and games, demanding again and again the improvement of many of them and getting sometimes that their districts have better common areas based on insistence and dedication.
