Murcia, international capital of professional tennis from March 18 to 24 (11/03/2019)

The Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia of El Palmar hosted this morning the presentation of the I International Tennis Tournament 'Club de Campo de Murcia', which will be held from March 18 to 24 and will bring great figures to the capital of the Region of international tennis and young promises of this sport.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Murcia, José Ballesta, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez-Cachá, the Councilor for Sports and Health, Felipe Coello, the President of the Real Sociedad Club de Campo de Murcia, Tomás González, the president of the Tennis Federation of the Region of Murcia, José Alcolea, the young promise of tennis Murcia Carlos Alcaraz and his coach, the tennis player who was number 1 in the world, Juan Carlos Ferrero.

José Ballesta stressed that "Murcia becomes, thanks to the I International Tournament, the capital of tennis and sportsmanship.

An unmissable event that unites sport and improvement and that becomes a social meeting of professional tennis in our city "and added that" over the last three and a half years, Murcia has held more than 400 sporting events, of health, artistic and cultural sports facilities ".

The tournament is one of the 22 ITF competitions that will be held in Spain throughout 2019 and will be developed at the headquarters of the Real Sociedad Club de Campo - popularly known as 'Tiro de Pichón', in El Palmar - , a first level sports environment with more than 80,000 square meters and 12 tracks of clay and a fast tennis court.

A total of 96 years down the path of this Club Murcia that was founded in 1923.

During the 7 days of the tournament about 70 players from different countries, coaches, family of players, tennis personalities, sponsors, representatives of the Public Administrations and the general public will pass through the tracks.

A total of 400 players from all over the world have already registered, although they will only be able to compete 24 in the Preliminary Phase, 32 in the Final Phase and 16 pairs in the Doubles Table.

The prize is US $ 15,000.

Among the most relevant players that will compete in Murcia include the Frenchman Calvin Hemery, the Spaniards Javier Barranco Cosano and Carlos Boluda and the Italian Marco Bortolotti, among others.
