58.8% of the management positions of the City of Murcia is currently occupied by women, a higher percentage if it deals exclusively with the nine governing bodies, of which six are held by female officers.
This is the case of the Economic and Budgetary Director;
technical secretary of the Local Government;
Auditor
Treasurer
director of the Municipal Tax Agency;
Director of Legal Services.
On the contrary, three officials occupy the remaining management positions: technical secretary of Infrastructures, Sustainable Development and Public Road;
Director of the Municipal Government Office;
and Secretary of the Plenary.
Also, according to information from the Personnel area, dependent on the Department of Modernization of Administration and Urban Development, directed by José Guillén, the most qualified categories of the staff, groups A1 and A2, are integrated at this time by 546 people, of which 321 are women and 225 men.
However, 59.24% of the total municipal staff are men and 40.76% women.
This change in trend is due to the greater presence of men in the following three groups of City Hall workers (C1, C2 and E).
Councilor for Social Rights and Development Cooperation, Conchita Ruiz, pointed out that 'public administrations have the duty and responsibility to guarantee equal opportunities between men and women in all their actions and, of course, in the management of human Resources'.
For that reason, "it is fair to recognize - he adds - that in the City of Murcia glass ceilings were broken and barriers were removed a long time ago and it is precisely women who occupy most of the positions of responsibility".
