Serrano proposes four new public nursery schools, one per year of mandate, since "we must recover the time lost in conciliation" (07/03/2019)

The candidate also has in the program the creation of the Department of Equality so that this is a transversal policy in all municipal departments and permeate all actions and decisions taken, and a business incubator for women

The mayoral candidate of Murcia, José Antonio Serrano, is committed to creating public children's schools, and this is reflected in the electoral program within the measures aimed at achieving real equality of opportunities between men and women and also a conciliation of the work and family life.

Serrano has presented part of these measures this morning to a group of socialist women of the municipality of Murcia with whom he has met and exchanged views on equality, taking advantage of this week of events on the occasion of Women's Day, which is celebrated tomorrow 8 March.

The Socialist candidate has spoken of creating an Equality Council so that this is a transversal policy in all municipal departments and permeate all actions and decisions taken.

However, his main commitment will be the construction of four public nursery schools, one for each year of mandate, since, as he explains, "we are decades behind in places from 0 to 3 years, so we must recover the time lost in policies that allow us to achieve an authentic conciliation, we have a lot of work ahead of us ".

In this sense, Serrano affirms that "if we believe these centers are important and necessary, so are the holiday schools to serve children whose parents work and can not coincide all the holidays with their children".

Another bet is the creation of a business incubator for women to help their incorporation into the workplace, paying special attention to the return to work of those who have been mothers.

In addition, it has committed to demand in the specifications that all companies working for the City Council include women who have been victims of gender violence.

"For me, the issue of equality is extremely simple, because I start from the personal conviction that it is natural, logical, what is above any physical characteristic that distinguishes us from men and women, so in my case As a man, husband, father or brother I have no doubt, and working for equal opportunities can be difficult for everything that needs to be done, however, the goal is so spectacular that it will compensate for all the obstacles, "he declares.

In addition, the candidate states that "what does generate a certain stupor is precisely that others have doubts, our society should not take a half step back, should not even afford to stay in the same place. but without hurry so that everything we build will last and last, I know that in this way education and training from schools will play an essential role ".

In this regard, the electoral program includes a training plan on diversity and against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender and gender violence in educational centers and those dependent on the City Council.

Also, a festival of shorts that promote equality will be promoted.

"I know that the less a woman exists in all areas of society, the less democracy and progress we will have, and it is imperative that no one lower their guard and allow themselves to be contaminated by supposed threats and archaic fears," Serrano concludes.
