The University of Murcia has delivered this Tuesday of the awards for the best final project and master's degree in the field of gender equality, which have been convened for the first time this academic year.
The event was held in the Rectors Gallery of the convalescence building.
In this first edition, 11 proposals for end-of-degree projects and 17 end-of-master projects from very diverse disciplines and faculties of the University of Murcia have participated.
In the selection committee of the best works, experts from each of the branches of knowledge participated, as well as the Vice-Rector of Studies, Sonia Madrid Cánovas;
and the director of the Unit for Equality between Women and Men of the UMU, Carmen Sánchez Trigueros.
The award-winning proposals have fallen on:
Claudia Mayordomo Zapata.
Award for the best final degree project in Political Science and Public Management under the title 'Political participation of women: do legal fees influence?'.
Belén Reynaldos García.
Award for the best final Master's in Forensic Sciences under the title 'The part of injuries in victims of gender violence: adaptation to judicial requirements'.
Angela López García.
Accésit of the award for the best master's degree in European Comparative Literature under the title 'Androgyny as an ecological idea in the novels of Ursula K. Le Guin, Joanna Russ and Marge Piercy'.
Carmen Sánchez Trigueros, director of the Unit for Equality between Women and Men, stressed the importance of the institution convening for the first time so much needed awards and has been proud that in the year 2018/2019 the offer has been extended of research lines in final degree projects and master's degree related to gender equality.
The Rector Luján has congratulated the winners, the tutors and tutors of the works and the deaneries and centers for having been involved in promoting the research lines related to this topic.
Finally, he remarked that these awards perfectly align the daily university work with the fact of facing the challenges posed by society, as is the case of gender equality.
